So grateful that this place exists! What an excellent public service. Life changing for sure.
I've been on a huge difficult sleep journey with my baby since birth and I really appreciated attending EB and cleaning up my processes in order to deliver amazing results! They look at the whole picture of feeding, sleeping, you and baby, and advise based on your own goals and situation. How amazing those lovely nurses stay up all night just waiting to support us mums with overnight wakes. Absolute angels! ❤️

Myself and little man went here for a week to help with sleeping, and now he is sleeping in his cot at night and during the day.
I highly recommend ellen barren if your child is a difficult sleeper.

I just wish I got sent out a leaflet to let me know what to bring for the stay as I almost ran out of clothes for him, as he's a sensory baby and I allow him to touch and feel his food with his hands and eat it himself.
Thank you for all your support ellen barren team, I am so happy with the results

Being a mom is the best thing that has happened to me. It’s the most beautiful and true love a human can feel. And it is also exhausting. I am incredibly grateful to have Sofia in my arms but I can’t deny the sleepless nights are difficult. 5 months taking 2 to 3h to put her to sleep every night and have her waking up every 45 min. It was exhausting. I know every baby is different and it’s normal the young ones wake up many times a night. I did everything that I could do to support her and for us to have a better sleep. My last resource was the sleep training with the nurses at EBFC. I was so nervous because I heard so many good and bad things about train a baby to sleep. I read so many things, I did a sleeping course, and I decided to try for the sake for my family and my mental health. It was the BEST thing I’ve done! It was 5 days of learning and teaching Sofia to sleep better, in a safe place ( the cot). It was NOT CRY IT OUT. I was beside her all the time supporting her and loving her through the training. Today was our last day, and she is able to sleep on her cot, she can soothe herself and can have a better quality of sleep. She will still be feeding 2x during the night . I will be forever grateful for the team of nurses and doctors who supported us this week.

I highly recommend the Ellen Barron Family Centre! We felt lucky as my Mum was able to be involved in this experience during our stay. We have continued to apply what we have learned from the staff into our Son’s routine. Our 1.5 year old boy used to co-sleep, was breastfed to sleep and woke up during the night. Our Son now sleeps in his own toddler bed in his own room, has been weaned off breastfeeding (Ellen Barron supported this as it was my choice) and independently sleeps on his own.
This experience has been unforgettable and has changed our lives. We are so grateful to receive the help, guidance and support from all the nurses (Jacqui, Amy, Marjorie, Catherine, Gabe, Jane, Robyn, Cate and all the rest of the staff at the Ellen Barron Family Centre! Thank you so much for everything!

Life changing experience for us. From birth our baby didn’t sleep longer than 30 minutes, had to be held or rocked constantly to sleep and we were bed sharing to get through. 4 days at Ellen Barron and he started sleeping in his own cot, minimal patting or rocking needed and mama has a little slice of her life and freedom back! It’s not CIO but there is crying. But you are in control and can step in at any time you feel. The nurses there are so supportive and will be there for you and your baby the whole way. They helped us with sleep but also with feeding (no more snack feeding yay!). Don’t expect the change to come without hardship (the first two days were HARD). And don’t expect change to come without trying - it won’t work unless you do - especially if you’re going to be closed off to any ideas they suggest. Just be open, trust yourself, trust your baby but also trust the nurses and the process. We couldn’t rate or thank the nurses at Ellen Barron more. They changed our life!

Absolutely wonderful staff and great informative talks and sessions. Sure my baby cried when changing her sleep behaviour, but the nurses showed me the difference between a winge , a settling cry an upsetting cry (to which you are to comfort your baby since you are there to help them when they struggle but ultimately want them to learn to sleep by themselves.) At all times the staff were respectful of my opinions and reminded me that if I felt uncomfortable at any moment of the process I could change tactics and go and hold my baby etc.. I learnt a lot and I would recomend it to anyone.

Don't let a few mediocre reviews make you feel uncertain. Approach this experience with an open mind. You are at the point of needing the Ellen Barron Family Centre for a reason, but also know that your feelings and voice are important.

I had a 10 month old who wasn't sleeping through and needed to be patted to sleep in arms. I had set these bad habits up in a bid to keep him quiet and not wake my eldest son. After a week at the Ellen Barron Family centre we have no more night bottles, self settling and sleeping 12 hours at night.

I found the nurses to be supportive and compassionate. The information sessions are good. Not having to cook for the week was delightful too. I was able to really connect and watch my youngest son, see those tired signs and get him to bed when he was ready.

I cannot recommend this service enough. How lucky are we to be Australians and have Medicare? Very fortunate! Thanks for an amazing experience.
